CBD snacks and drinks for self-quarantine happiness

CBD snacks and drinks for self-quarantine happiness

Get blissful with a baked good…

When stuck at home (possibly with kids!) it’s easy to whip up some cookies or a cocktail and indulge a little. It makes the day fun, and provides food therapy during these trying times. If you read our last blog about microdosing, you might be ready to start adding CBD to your favorite food and drinks throughout the day. Read on for our CBD-lish guide to get a little cannabis in your #shelterinplace diet.

Note: Tinctures are the easiest way to add CBD to your diet, and they are very convenient. The following guidelines and recipes reference Full-Spectrum Hemp Extract, specifically Alchemy Naturals Tinctures in either 500mg or 1000mg sizes, however, dosages of CBD added to each recipe can be modified based on your preferences.

General guidelines for using CBD with food and drinks:

For best results, don’t cook your CBD

The terpenes (those aromatic molecules that create color, smell, and taste)  in Hemp Extract can degrade when heated, so for best results, you’ll want to add it “raw” or to recipes that don’t require cooking. This article features drinks, a no-bake cookie recipe, and a salad dressing, so you’ll get the biggest CBD bang for your buck!

If you find a recipe that is just begging to be baked - brownies or cakes for example - bake at no greater then 340 degrees Fahrenheit. That way you can have your cake and your (most potent) dose of CBD too.

Follow the CBD “Best By” Rules:

Try to create recipes that you can portion out into individual servings, and then freeze or store the rest in the fridge as soon as possible.

Because Hemp Extract does break down over time, store unconsumed treats and drinks in the fridge and enjoy within the next week or two. You can also freeze already prepared CBD edibles for several months. Freezing works best for recipes that would normally freeze well - i.e. cookies or you could also freeze coffee in ice cube trays and add one or two to an iced coffee later.

Single portion recipes are easier to keep away from kids or those who don’t want to eat CBD…

Not too many 8-year-olds will want to drink your coffee, but they may want to eat your cookies. Make a batch or a split the batch to have some contain CBD and some cookies that are “virgin.” Be sure to label and store non-CBD and CBD infused concoctions separately!

Coffee and Cocktails are easy to customize your CBD dosage as well. You may want to start with 15mg, but your partner or roommate may know that they want to start at 25mg.

But First CBD Coffee:

Makes one coffee and gets you off on the right foot.

This first one isn’t really a recipe, so much as it is an idea…

To add CBD to your morning (or afternoon) coffee, simply pour your house brew and add your desired shot of Hemp Extract. Try starting with 1 full dropper of your preferred dosage (500 or 1000mg) of Full-Spectrum Alchemy Naturals Hemp Extract.

Level up: #treatyoself and take an excursion through your favorite coffee drive-thru (check to make sure they are open). Try adding Blood Orange or Peppermint Full-Spectrum Alchemy Naturals Hemp Extract to a mocha!
